Traditional Lithuanian folk song which the composer learned as a child. He dedicates the work to his father. The overtones are developed from vowels at the beginning of the piece.
m-o-a-e-ė-i-o-u-a-e- (change vowels at individual rate trying to find overtones)
Quote from the performance notes: “The overtones in the men’s parts at the opening are essential and each singer should attempt to find strong overtones at his own rate.”
