Overtone singing was introduced to the western contemporary music 1968 by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Out of these beginnings a full-function new "instrument"
has resulted by now. The lecture shows new developments of this vocal technique in solo and ensemble singing, and the participants will be given the
opportunity to try out the technique on their own voices with simple exercises. The latest scientific findings in the field of overtone perception, case studies about the
special effect of overtones on people and animals, compositions for overtone singing and its important prerequisites as well as a summary of overtone singing stiles in the world are further contents of the workshop.
